South Korea Expands Halal Tourism Services to Attract Muslim Travelers
——————————————————-
South Korea is stepping up efforts to become a major destination for Muslim tourists, especially visitors from Gulf countries, by expanding halal dining options and faith-friendly travel services during the summer season.
The country is seeking to provide a safe and comfortable travel experience for visitors interested in Asian culture and Korean cuisine prepared in line with Islamic dietary requirements.
Recognizing the economic and cultural importance of the Muslim travel market, South Korea has introduced broader plans to welcome Muslim families and help them enjoy the country’s attractions without religious concerns.
The measures focus on easier access to halal food and respect for Islamic practices, aiming to make South Korea an ideal destination for Muslim travelers interested in exploring new cultures.
According to a report by Swift News, the initiatives are being implemented under a comprehensive programme known as “Muslim-Friendly Korea,” supervised by the Korea Tourism Organization.
The programme aims to develop a wider network of officially halal-certified restaurants and self-certified dining venues, allowing Muslim tourists to experience traditional Korean dishes such as bibimbap, bulgogi and halal barbecue in a suitable environment.
Seoul, particularly the Itaewon district, which is home to the city’s central mosque, has become a main hub for these services. However, according to the Korea Tourism Organization, the facilities are no longer limited to the capital, with major destinations such as Busan and the resort island of Jeju also joining the network.
