Iraqi Forces Arrest 21 ISIS Suspects in Sulaimani
Iraqi security forces, in collaboration with Kurdish Asayish units, arrested 21 suspected members of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Sulaimani province, Rudaw news agency reported yesterday.
The arrests were made following judicial approvals, targeting individuals accused of terrorism.
Among those detained were ISIS leaders, including a former security official for “Fallujah province” and an administrative assistant for “Dijla province.”
Although ISIS was declared territorially defeated in Iraq in 2017, the group continues to conduct bombings and attacks. Thousands have been detained for suspected links to extremist groups since 2014, with many facing execution.
Earlier this month, Asayish also apprehended nine wanted ISIS members in Sulaimani, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat the remnants of the group in the region.
