Lady Fatima al-Ma’suma (peace be upon her), daughter of Imam Musa al-Kadhim (peace be upon him), holds a distinguished place in Shi’a heritage as one of the most revered women of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), known among her followers as “Karimat Ahl al-Bayt” (The Noble Lady of the Prophet’s Family).

According to Shi’a tradition, this title reflects her elevated spiritual status and has been associated with her generosity, knowledge, and position among the descendants of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). She is regarded as a figure whose shrine in the holy city of Qom has become a major center of devotion, scholarship, and religious learning.

Narrations among Shi’a scholars describe the title “Karimat Ahl al-Bayt” as having a special significance. One well-known account relates that Sayyid Mahmoud al-Mar’ashi sought guidance regarding the location of the grave of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her) through repeated acts of worship at Masjid al-Sahla. The account states that he was guided instead toward the shrine of Lady Fatima al-Ma’suma in Qom, highlighting the revered status attributed to her shrine in Shi’a tradition.

Her followers emphasize that her legacy extends beyond personal devotion, describing her as a source of religious knowledge, spiritual inspiration, and a symbol of mercy. Her arrival and burial in Qom are considered a turning point in the city’s history, contributing to its development as one of the most important centers of Shi’a scholarship.

The shrine of Lady al-Ma’suma continues to attract pilgrims from around the world and remains closely connected with the religious institutions of Qom, including its seminaries and scholarly circles.
