Violent Clashes Erupt Between Sudanese Army, Paramilitary Forces in El-Fasher
Violent clashes have broken out between Sudan’s military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the city of El-Fasher, North Darfur state, TRTWorld reported yesterday.
According to the source citing the El-Fasher Resistance Committee, the two sides engaged in heavy weapons and artillery fire, with “shells falling randomly on citizens’ houses, leading to several injuries.”
The conflict between the Sudanese army and RSF has been ongoing since early April. El-Fasher is the only city in the Darfur region that has not fallen under RSF control.
The fighting has sparked international calls to prevent a “humanitarian catastrophe” that could push millions into famine and death. Estimates suggest over 16,000 have been killed and 2 million displaced since the war began in April 2023.
