Shia community in the Finnish city of Tampere revives the Arbaeen Pilgrimage with a mourning procession

Amid a great Husseini atmosphere, and with the participation of men, women and children, the Shias of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) in the city of Tampere, southern Finland, held a mourning procession to revive the Arbaeen Pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

Wissam Al-Tarfi, a Karbalai residing in the city, stated that the mourning procession started early in the morning of the twentieth day of Safar and went for several kilometers in the main street of the city.

Al-Tarfi explained in an interview to Shia Waves News Agency that “The Shia communities in the city of Tampere were keen to commemorate the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) with this procession that reminded them of their footsteps in the past to the holy city of Karbala.”

He added that “the procession was secured by the city police, and concluded with the establishment of a mourning ceremony at the Islamic Tampere Center, in which the guest speaker recalled the injustices subjected to the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) on this great day.”

Al-Tarfi pointed out that “the recent migrations of Iraqi citizens, Syrians and Lebanese to Finland, has contributed to increasing the momentum and presence of the Shia communities in the country, who are keen to hold the holy Husseini rituals throughout the year.
