14 truffle hunters dead after IS landmine explodes in Syria desert

A landmine left by the Islamic State group exploded on Sunday, killing 14 people collecting truffles in the Syrian desert, VOA reported.
Despite warnings of the high-risk practice, foragers still risk their lives between February and April to collect the high-quality delicacies produced in the desert, which is also a hideout for jihadis and is littered with landmines.
It should be mentioned that the war in Syria has resulted in over half a million deaths and the displacement of millions since it began in 2011.
