Bahrain: Detainee beaten for commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Ali, peace be upon him

Human rights sources revealed that the detainee, Muhammad Al-Iskafi, was beaten by prison guards due to the establishment of mourning ceremonies on the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib, peace be upon him.

A human rights activist, Ibtisam Al-Saegh, confirmed that Al-Iskafi, who was arrested in Building 21 in Dry Dock Prison, was severely beaten by prison guards, and that the effects of the beatings were visible on his face.

She said that prison cameras documented the assault on Al-Iskafi, and called for an investigation into the incident and for the police who attacked him to be held accountable.

Al-Iskafi father called to protect his son and reveal his fate after he was taken to an unknown location and contact was lost.

Al-Saegh, for her part, called for revealing the fate of Muhammad Al-Iskafi and enabling prisoners to practice their religious rites without restrictions, noting that this is one of the most basic rights of prisoners.
