The father of Bahraini detainee Osama Al-Saghir has appealed to the authorities at the Dry Dock Detention Center to allow his son access to desperately needed medical care.

According to activists, Al-Saghir is suffering from severe pain as a result of injuries sustained by birdshot pellets, which are still present in his body.

Al-Saghir was sentenced to over 40 years in prison after being arrested during last May’s bloody police raid on the northwestern Bahraini village of Diraz, which left five dead and many more injured.

The young man also had his Bahraini nationality revoked. Bahraini prisoners routinely complain about being deprived of their right to medical care.
