Indian multi-sectarian delegation calls for allowing its citizens to perform the upcoming Arbaeen Pilgrimage to Karbala

The Indian “Hans India” news website reported that the residents of the city of Dar Al-Shifa in the province of Hyderabad, which has a Shia-majority population, submitted an official request to obtain permission to participate in the Arbaeen Pilgrimage in the holy city of Karbala.
The website quoted the “All India Shia movement”, headed by the national leader, Mir Varasath Ali Bagheri, announcing in a statement that it had sent, last Friday, an official delegation to the country’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in order to invite the Iraqi government to agree to their request for the participation of Indian Muslims from different sects to revive the Arbaeen Pilgrimage this year.
The statement said, “The delegation contacted the two Federal Ministers, Dr. Sabrhamanyam Jaishankar and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, in addition to the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Delhi, Dr. Falah Abdul Hassan Abdul Sada, and the Indian Ambassador in Baghdad in order to achieve this purpose.”
The Indian website added, quoting the statement, confirming that “thousands of Indian pilgrims travel to the holy city of Karbala annually, and it is very unfortunate that Indian citizens are prevented from visiting the holy shrine of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.”
It is noteworthy that the city of Dar Al-Shifa is an important part of the ancient Indian province of Hyderabad, as it was named by this name in memory of the hospital that was built there in 1591, that is, more than 400 years ago, by the founder of Hyderabad province himself, Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah.
