Shia Muslims walk towards Holy Kadhimiya to commemorate martyrdom of Imam Musa al-Kadhim
Large crowds of Shia Muslims from various Iraqi provinces have begun their on-foot journey towards Iraq’s capital Baghdad to mark the anniversary of Imam Musa Al-Kadhim’s martyrdom, peace be upon him, in the holy city of Holy Kadhimiya. The commemoration, observed annually on the 25th of Rajab, attracts millions of participants from both within Iraq and abroad.
Accordung Shia Waves correspondent, large crowds of pilgrims have been started walking to reach the capital for this significant occasion, often referred to as the Pilgrimage of Rajab. Along the pilgrimage routes, mourning processions and service tents have been set up to offer food and drinks to the pilgrims.
Security forces have implemented plans to ensure safety and provide emergency assistance during the event. The week of commemoration, spanning from the 20th to the 26th of Rajab, sees millions of Shia Muslims and followers of Ahlulbayt gather in Holy Kadhimiya to honor the martyrdom of Imam Musa Al-Kadhim, peace be upon him.
