Canada sees highest population growth rate in over 6 decades, report says

A recent report from Statistics Canada revealed that in 2023, Canada experienced its largest annual increase in population in over six decades.

The population grew by 3.2%, which is the highest growth rate since 1957 when it reached 3.3%.

The report highlighted that the majority of this population growth was due to temporary immigration in 2023.

It added that without the impact of temporary immigration, the population growth would have been 1.2%. As of January 1, 2024, the population in Canada stood at 40,769,890.
