Grand Ayatollah Shirazi emphasizes Islam’s commitment to peace, self-defense ethics

The Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, reaffirmed that Islam is a religion of peace and does not initiate aggression against anyone, instead promoting peaceful coexistence with all nations and peoples.

In brief remarks published on the official website, the Grand Marja stated, “When other nations incline toward peace, Islam inclines toward it as well, but if Islam faces aggression, it defends itself,” confirming that Islamic defense is conducted with the utmost integrity and respect for human values, even in the face of aggression.

His Eminence highlighted that while Islam has the right to defend itself, it responds to attacks with the minimum necessary force, upholding ethical principles and using only what is necessary to halt the aggressor.

He emphasized that this stance reflects Islam’s deep commitment to respecting human life and prioritizing peace over conflict whenever possible, offering believers a clear path in addressing challenges.

Grand Ayatollah Shirazi also encouraged following this humane approach to defense, which preserves human dignity and exemplifies Islam’s highest moral values.
