Shia Muslims in Moscow observe beginning of Holy Muharram 1446 AH
Large crowds of Shia followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, gathered in the Russian capital, Moscow, last night at the Moscow Islamic Center to observe the beginning of the month of calamities and sorrows, Holy Muharram.
The event saw significant attendance from the Arab and Islamic communities residing in Moscow, as well as prominent religious, cultural, and social figures from the Shia community in Russia.
The mourning ceremonies began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by poignant poems addressing the tragedy of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and his esteemed status with Prophet Muhammad and the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them.
The speakers emphasized the values and principles for which Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, sacrificed, stressing the importance of adhering to the guardianship of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, and following their path in defending truth and justice.
A profound atmosphere of sorrow and sadness prevailed, as the attendees deeply engaged with the mourning ceremonies, reciting prayers and supplications, and beseeching Allah Almighty to grant them success in adhering to Imam Hussein’s path and following his example in confronting oppression.
Participants expressed their deep connection to the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, and their adherence to their noble principles, affirming the importance of commemorating Holy Ashura to strengthen the spirit of unity and solidarity among the Shia community in Moscow.
