Pakistan: Youm-e-Ali procession to be held to commemorate martyrdom of Imam Ali
Youm-e-Ali will be observed today Tuesday with devotion and respect in commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Ali, peace be upon him. According to sources, a large procession will be taken out in connection with the day for which a tight security plan has been devised; with approximately 2,700 police personnel deployed to maintain security.
The largest procession will be taken out from Imam Bargah Mohanpura Waqar Zaidi at 9pm, they said and added that it will pass through Mohanpura, Novelty Cinema Chowk, Kashmiri Bazaar, Fawara Chowk, Iqbal Road, Bohar Bazaar Chowk and end at Imambargah Colonel Maqbool.
The sources continued that standing on roofs of houses on the procession route has been prohibited under the security plan. Moreover, volunteers will distribute milk and tea to the participants of the procession.
All the shops and markets along the route of the procession will also be closed immediately after Iftar.
Apart from the main procession, 44 smaller processions will be taken out across the region and around 97 Majalis will be held.
It is worth mentioning that Muslims around the world commemorate the martyrdom of the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, who was struck on his honorable head by a poisoned sword by Abdul Rahman bin Muljim, the accursed.
