US Muslim Communities Face Rising Anti-Muslim Attacks Amid Michigan Senate Race
——————————————
Arab and Muslim Americans are expressing concern over a rise in anti-Muslim rhetoric and threats targeting Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, while community leaders say they remain determined to respond through civic engagement.

US President Donald Trump and several Republican figures have repeatedly questioned El-Sayed’s background and accused him of links to extremist groups, without providing substantiated evidence. Muslim advocates say such statements are encouraging hostility towards their communities, particularly in Dearborn, where local officials report an increase in threats.

Despite the attacks, community leaders and activists say Arab and Muslim Americans are continuing to organise politically and assert their place in American society. A Michigan State University survey cited by Al Jazeera found that 38 per cent of potential voters would be less likely to support a candidate because of their Muslim faith.
