International Center for Supporting Rights and Freedoms has called Bahraini Public Prosecutor to investigate torture crimes and violations against a number of prisoners.
The center said in a statement that the al-Khalifa regime has intensified pressures on protestors and is torturing detainees through harsher methods according to stories narrated by eye witnesses and relatives of the prisoners.
The center has called on the International human rights organizations and the circles concerned to pressure the Bahraini government to respect human rights laws when dealing with the prisoners.
Since mid-February 2011, thousands of anti-regime protesters have held numerous demonstrations on the streets of Bahrain, calling for the Al Khalifa family to relinquish power.
Scores of Bahrainis have been killed and hundreds of others injured and arrested in the ongoing crackdown on peaceful demonstrations.
