Afghanistan experiencing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises: UN agency

UNICEF representative in Afghanistan, Salam al-Janabi, announced that the country is experiencing the most difficult crises in the world, and the health care system and social services in the republic are on the verge of collapse, after the terrorist Taliban movement took control of the country and overthrew the Afghan government.
“Afghanistan is now experiencing one of the most difficult crises in the world, and its demands are increasing every day, in addition to the growing crisis related to food shortages and food insecurity, the health care system and social services in it are on the verge of collapse,” al-Janabi said in a press release.
The spokesman noted that even at the beginning of the year, the situation in Afghanistan was among the worst in the world, with about half of the population of the republic, including 10 million children, in need of humanitarian assistance.
The spokesman explained that due to the recent events in the country, the number of families living in poverty is increasing, adding that expenditures on the current humanitarian needs of Afghanistan are estimated at $192 million, of which UNICEF donors have allocated about 70 percent.
