A Turkish website said today, that the Shia community in Turkey has great hopes that the New Year will open new developments for them, foremost of which is the recognition of their religious identity.
According to what was published by the site and followed by Shia Waves, “the Alawi Shias, who make up the second largest religious community in the country, have a list of concerns about various issues, including public recognition of their identity and the establishment of their religious rites and rites.”
It stated that “the ruling Justice and Development Party has taken steps before to address these issues, but no concrete solutions have been reached so far. But in recent months, officials have made positive statements and expressed their intentions to solve the problem once and for all.”
The source pointed out that “the Alawis are demanding greater freedom with regard to establishing places of worship, and they also affirm that they are essential elements of Turkish society that are inseparable from it.”
