US: Shia Organization to Hold Faith and Mental Health Workshop in Maryland

The American Shia organization, in cooperation with the Jaafari Administration Foundation, will host a workshop titled “Faith and Mental Health” on October 17, 2026, in Burtonsville, Maryland.
The event will bring together government officials, mental health specialists, and members of the Shia community to discuss psychological and social challenges, including stress related to global crises, religious discrimination, and community pressures.
Participants will include Maryland health and community outreach officials, who will discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between government institutions and religious communities and improve access to mental health services.
Organizers said the workshop aims to provide a safe space for dialogue, raise awareness about available support resources, and help community members better address mental health challenges through professional assistance and spiritual support.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to promote mental health awareness within faith communities and strengthen connections between religious groups and social support services.
