Grand Ayatollah Shirazi specifies date of celebrating the birth anniversary of Imam al-Askary

The Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi has set the 4th of Rabi’ al-Thani as the date of celebrating the birth anniversary of Imam Hassan al-Askary, peace be upon him.
His Eminence answered an inquiry about the disagreement regarding the 8th of Rabi al-Thani: Does the day mark the martyrdom anniversary of Fatima al-Zahraa, peace be upon her, or the birth anniversary of Imam Hassan al-Askary, peace be upon him?
The Grand Ayatollah said in a statement, “The birth anniversary of Imam al-Askary, peace be upon him, should be celebrated on the 4th of Rabi’ al-Thani, as there are three narrations for the occasion: the 4th of Rabi’ al-Thani, the 10th, which coincides with the martyrdom anniversary of Fatima al-Masouma, peace be upon her, and the 8th, which coincides with the martyrdom anniversary of Fatima al-Zahraa, peace be upon her, therefore, it’s best that the celebration is held according to the first narration, the 4th of Rabi’ al-Thani.
