Grand Ayatollah al-Najafi warns of insulting the Messenger and criticizes France’s ambivalence
The Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Bashir al-Najafi, criticized France’s ambivalence in its defense of freedom, while warning against insulting the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his progeny.
His Eminence said in his speech on the Prophet’s birth anniversary, “There are countries that claim to be the advocates of freedom and claim to protect the freedom of its people, and what is happening in these governments is that they are allowing insults to religions, especially Islam. The world recently witnessed France insulting the sanctities of Islam in the name of freedom. How can states allow attacks on the sanctities of Islam, which Muslims have dearer than their lives?”
His Eminence indicated, “We warn all countries against transgressing our religion and the leaders of our religion, such as the Prophet of Mercy, Muhammad, peace be upon him and his progeny, and the Holy Quran.”
The Grand Ayatollah concluded, “We ask the wise people in all regions of the world to wake up from their nap, rush towards true peaceful coexistence and not use the title of freedom to eliminate freedom.”
