The neighborhood has been populated by more than 2000 Shia Muslims for 400 years. Civil activist, Ali al-Dubaisi, said that the Saudi authorities are committing a crime against the helpless people of al-Masurah neighborhood. The Saudi authorities

have cut off electricity and water from the area in addition to forcing a number of families to leave their houses, causing the residents to seek refuge in local mosques.
