8 martyred in Iraq car bombings mostly in Shia neighbourhoods

At least eight people have been martyred in four car bomb explosions in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

 

According to an Interior Ministry source the car bomb explosions on Wednesday also left 36 people injured.

A car bomb went off near a bank in southern Baghdad’s Baiyaa district of Shia majority killing two people and injuring eight others.

In another part of the Iraqi capital, a parked car exploded near a crowded market, claiming the lives of five people and leaving 14 others wounded.

One civilian was killed and five others injured after a car bomb hit an area near a private hospital in Karrada district of Shia majority.

The last explosion took place in south-western Baghdad’s Amil district, leaving nine people injured.

Earlier this month, two car bombings near a Shia mosque martyred 11 people in northern Kirkuk.

Over the past several months, many districts in Baghdad, particularly its Shia areas, have been rocked by car bombings and other terrorist attacks targeting both security forces and civilians.
