Christie’s auction house in London is set to offer a rare page from a historic Quran manuscript dating to around 1310, with an estimated price of £50,000 to £70,000. The page will be featured in the auction of Islamic and Indian art scheduled for November 12.

According to Christie’s, the manuscript is believed to have been produced in Baghdad more than seven centuries ago. It contains verses from Surah Al-Humazah, written in four lines of traditional muhaqqaq script using gold, silver and black ink, and decorated with intricate geometric and floral designs.

Measuring approximately 57.7 by 42.6 centimetres, the page is attributed to the illuminator Muhammad ibn Aybak ibn Abdullah, whose work is associated with early 14th-century Quran manuscripts. The auction will feature more than 230 works, including manuscripts, ceramics, paintings, metalwork and textiles from the Islamic and Indian artistic heritage.
