Houthi Missile Attack Kills at Least 53 Yemeni Government Soldiers in Shabwa

At least 53 Yemeni government security personnel were killed and more than 200 others injured in a Houthi ballistic missile attack on a military training camp in Shabwa province on Monday, October 19, according to local authorities. The attack was one of the deadliest incidents since fighting in Yemen intensified in recent months.
The missiles struck the Al-Alam camp while newly recruited members of the internal security forces were undergoing training. Local officials said three ballistic missiles hit the facility. Authorities warned that the death toll could rise, while some of the wounded were transferred to hospitals outside the province for treatment.
The Houthis acknowledged targeting the camp, claiming it housed Saudi-led forces and personnel. However, Yemen’s internationally recognised government described the facility as a training centre for local security recruits and condemned the attack. Saudi authorities had not immediately commented on the Houthi claims, according to media reports.
