The official website of the office of the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husayni al-Shirazi, announced on Sunday that he will deliver a special address marking the great tragedy of the martyrdom of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family).

According to the statement, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi will deliver his speech at his residence in the holy city of Qom at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, corresponding to the 28th of Safar 1148 AH. The address will focus on the great sorrow that befell the Islamic nation following the loss of the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him and his family).

The speech comes as part of efforts to commemorate the painful tragedy of the martyrdom of the Prophet of mercy and humanity, Muhammad al-Amin (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), while reaffirming commitment to his teachings and noble guidance.

Grand Ayatollah Shirazi has previously called for greater efforts to introduce the life, message and sacrifices of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) to humanity through the dissemination of his teachings and moral values.

Muslims around the world commemorate the anniversary of the Prophet’s martyrdom through mourning gatherings. In the holy city of Najaf, large crowds gather at the shrine of his successor, Imam Ali (peace be upon him), to offer condolences and express their grief on this solemn occasion.
