More details in the following report:

Mourning ceremonies were held in Iran and Syria to mark the 25th of Muharram, the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ali ibn al-Husayn Zayn al-Abidin (AS), the fourth Imam of the Creation.

In Tehran, the office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadeq al-Hosseini al-Shirazi hosted a commemorative gathering attended by religious and cultural figures, as well as devotees of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon him). The program included a speech highlighting Imam al-Sajjad’s spiritual, ethical and educational legacy, particularly his role in preserving the message of Imam Husayn’s (peace be upon him) uprising after the tragedy of Karbala. The ceremony continued with elegies and mourning recitations remembering the suffering of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon him).

In Damascus, the Zaynabiyya Hawza and its women’s seminary in the Sayyida Zaynab district organized separate mourning programs attended by believers and followers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).

The director of the Zaynabiyya Hawza and representative of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi, Sheikh Hassan Abd al-Hadi al-Shahrestani, said the main gathering began with the recitation of the visitation prayer for Imam Zayn al-Abidin (peace be upon him), followed by Quran recitation and a religious lecture by Sheikh Akram Karabij. The speaker discussed aspects of Imam al-Sajjad’s life and his efforts to safeguard the message of Imam Husayn (him) following the events of Karbala.

The women’s mourning gathering at the Zaynabiyya Hawza also included Quran recitation, a lecture on Imam al-Sajjad’s virtues and his role in strengthening values of patience, worship and reform, followed by a mourning session and devotional chants.

The ceremonies were part of ongoing religious and educational programs organized by Shia religious institutions to commemorate the lives of Ahl al-Bayt (AS) and promote awareness of their teachings among communities in Tehran and Damascus.
