Lady Fatima al-Zahra Mosque, peace be upon her, in the Arncliffe area of Sydney, Australia, held Ashura commemorations with wide participation from believers marking the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, his family, and his companions in the tragedy of Karbala.

The program included a recitation of the Maqtal of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, by Sheikh Haider al-Hamdi, as attendees reflected on the events of Karbala and the values of patience, steadfastness, and sacrifice for the sake of truth.

The ceremonies also featured a notable contribution from children of al-Zahra School, who performed an Ashura play depicting aspects of the Karbala tragedy. Organizers said the activity aimed to instill the principles of the Husseini uprising in younger generations and strengthen their connection to Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.

The children also held an Ashura procession inside the mosque, carrying Husseini banners and chanting slogans associated with the occasion.

The event concluded with the distribution of food in honor of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, reflecting the spirit of giving and solidarity that characterizes Husseini gatherings. Mosque organizers said Ashura programs would continue as part of their commitment to preserving the educational and humanitarian message of Karbala for future generations.
