Damascus Seminary Holds Separate Mourning Gatherings for Lady Fatima al-Zahra

The Zaynabiyya Religious Seminary in the Sayyida Zaynab area of Damascus, Syria, held separate mourning gatherings for men and women to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her), according to the narration marking her martyrdom 75 days after the passing of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family).

The men’s gathering featured Quranic recitation, a reading of Lady Fatima’s visitation text, and a religious sermon. The women’s gathering included Quranic recitation, religious guidance, elegies and lamentations, as well as a theatrical performance.

Sheikh Hassan Abdul Hadi al-Shahrestani, head of the seminary and representative of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husayni al-Shirazi, said the events aimed to commemorate Lady Fatima’s suffering, preserve Fatimid mourning traditions, and strengthen the community’s connection with the teachings of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
