Mosques and Islamic Centers in Thailand Prepare for Muharram

Islamic centers and mosques in several parts of Thailand have completed preparations to welcome the month of Muharram and commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, his family and his companions, peace be upon them.
The preparations include organizing facilities, cleaning mosques and arranging spaces for Husseini mourning gatherings and religious programmes.
At Dar al-Zahra Educational Institute in Kong Ra district, Phatthalung province, teachers and students took part in a preparation campaign ahead of Muharram. The work included hanging black flags and mourning banners, cleaning Dar al-Zahra Mosque and preparing its facilities to receive participants in Husseini mourning ceremonies.
Officials at the institute said the initiative was part of efforts to commemorate Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and provide a suitable atmosphere for religious, cultural and mourning programmes during Muharram.
In a similar move, Imam al-Sadiq Mosque, peace be upon him, in Bang Nam Priao district of Chachoengsao province, also began preparations for Ashura and the tragedy of Karbala. The work included organizing facilities and preparing spaces for mourning gatherings and devotional programmes throughout the month.
Islamic centers affiliated with followers of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, in Thailand hold annual programmes during the Husseini mourning season. These include religious gatherings, educational lectures and mourning ceremonies aimed at strengthening awareness of the values embodied by Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in his eternal uprising.
The preparations come as Muharram begins, a major religious occasion in which believers remember the life and sacrifices of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in defense of truth, justice and reform.
