The historic Kudi Chua Mosque in Thailand’s Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province has officially reopened following the completion of a two-year structural restoration project.

The reopening of the 600-year-old mosque, regarded as one of the country’s oldest examples of Islamic architecture, highlights the deep-rooted presence of Muslims in the ancient Kingdom of Siam.

According to Asharq Al-Awsat, the mosque is more than a place of worship. It stands as a living witness to the long-standing connection between the Islamic world and East Asia’s maritime trade networks in past centuries.

Government and religious officials attended the reopening ceremony of the historic site.

Thai cultural authorities said preserving this six-century-old heritage landmark reflects the country’s commitment to protecting religious diversity and honoring the cultural legacy of its Muslim community.
