Celebrations and cultural activities in the holy city of Najaf and in Yemen marked Eid al-Ghadir as millions of faithful believers participated in the festivity as an expression of allegiance to the Commander of the Faithful.

Today, Thursday, the city of Najaf al-Ashraf witnessed a massive influx of visitors from inside and outside Iraq, gathering to commemorate Eid al-Ghadeer al-Aghar and renew allegiance to Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) at his holy shrine. The occasion marks the 18th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the day when the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) appointed Imam Ali (peace be upon him) as his successor and guardian.

According to a correspondent from the Shia Waves Agency, festive celebrations filled the halls of the Al-‘Alawiyah Holy Shrine, supported by comprehensive security and service measures from official authorities in Najaf to ensure smooth movement and the proper care of pilgrims. The city experienced heavy crowds from the early morning hours.

Pilgrims expressed feelings of joy and delight on this occasion, which is regarded as a pivotal moment in the course of the Islamic message. They affirmed that Eid al-Ghadeer is a day to renew loyalty to the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and to reaffirm the values upon which authentic Muhammadan Islam is founded.

Also, in Najaf, the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-‘Alawiyah Shrine announced the completion of the first phase of the “Al-Murqqa‘ Al-‘Alawi” project, as part of the International Eid al-Ghadeer Week. The project involved about 40 master calligraphers from Iraq and other Arab and Islamic countries.

The initiative aims to showcase the life and virtues of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) through Islamic calligraphy works combining artistic authenticity with scholarly content. The pieces include texts of the Alawi virtues narrated from the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family), alongside selected wisdom from Imam Ali’s sayings in Nahj al-Balagha.

In Al-Hudaydah, the Eid events featured a prominent presence of scholars, community leaders, and large crowds of citizens, under the banner “Whoever I am his Master, Ali is his Master”, reflecting strong spiritual and historical engagement with the concept of Wilayah. The events included religious speeches, poetry, devotional chants, and artistic performances.

Meanwhile, the office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini Shirazi extended congratulations to Our Master Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance) and to all believers worldwide on Eid al-Ghadeer al-Aghar.
