Rise in Anti-Muslim Content on X Platform Sparks Concern
—————————-
Recent changes to the X platform have coincided with a surge in content hostile to Islam, according to IQNA. The introduction of the “country display” feature next to usernames has reportedly enabled targeting based on religious or geographic identity, facilitating the spread of discriminatory messages.

Data shows significant disparities among countries in producing anti-Islamic content. India leads globally, accounting for over half of such posts, followed by the United States at nearly 28% and the United Kingdom at roughly 8%, according to a study by the Islamic Council of Victoria covering 2017–2019.

Official UK statistics highlight a 19% rise in hate crimes against Muslims in one year, increasing from 2,690 to 3,199 cases by March 2025. In India, Reuters reported a 74% rise in online hate targeting minorities in 2024. In Europe, the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) observed a 422% spike in anti-Muslim comments over a few days, fueled in part by Middle East tensions.

The findings underline growing concerns about the intersection of social media features and online hate targeting Muslim communities worldwide.
