Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Guardianship is a Condition for the Validity of Worship
——————————–
Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi held his daily academic session on Monday, Rabi al-Awwal 29, 1447 AH, where His Eminence answered questions on various jurisprudential issues.

During the session, the topic of wilayah (guardianship) as a condition for the acceptance or validity of worship was raised. Grand Ayatollah Shirazi stated that while this issue is a matter of disagreement among jurists, the prevalent view, based on numerous traditions, is that wilayah is a condition for the validity of all acts of worship, including prayers, fasting, and Hajj.

The Supreme Marja further clarified that if a person becomes a follower of the Ahl al-Bayt (the family of the Prophet Muhammad) before their death, God will overlook their past acts of worship, and they will not need to repeat or make up their prayers, fasting, or Hajj.
