For the 50th consecutive week, Bahraini security forces prevented worshippers from holding Friday prayers at Imam al-Sadiq Mosque in the village of Duraz. Security personnel, supported by military vehicles, were deployed around the mosque on September 19 to restrict gatherings.

The suspension of prayers has drawn continued public demonstrations across several Bahraini cities. Protesters voiced solidarity with political detainees, demanding their unconditional release and an end to what they described as restrictions on religious freedoms and sectarian discrimination.

Authorities first halted Friday prayers at the mosque on October 4 of last year, a move that has since fueled widespread discontent and calls to lift restrictions on the Shia community’s religious practices.
