The Center for Documenting Violations Against Shia in Syria has denounced the abduction of a teenage girl in Homs province on Saturday, September 6, 2025, holding the so-called “General Security” fully responsible for her safety.

According to the group’s statement, armed men affiliated with General Security stormed the home of local resident Samer al-Halboni in the Mazraa village orchards around 5 p.m. and seized his 16-year-old daughter, Shahd al-Halboni, in front of her family.

The center described the incident as a reflection of lawlessness and brutality in the area. Local sources reported that the girl’s identification card was later found in the outskirts of Homs. Hours afterward, her father received a text message stating that his daughter was alive and had been transferred to Aleppo, which was viewed as an act of intimidation and extortion.

The rights group urged the UN, international community, and human rights organizations to press Syrian authorities for her release and to protect Shia communities from recurring abuses.
