The Assembly of Ahl al-Bayt Devotees in Afghanistan has called for holding mourning gatherings commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her), stressing the importance of highlighting her life and status in Islam while preserving Muslim unity and avoiding rhetoric that fuels sectarian divisions.
In a statement issued for the occasion, the assembly extended its condolences to Muslims and urged the public to use the Fatimiyya days to promote the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and strengthen religious and moral values in society. It also emphasized the importance of understanding Lady Fatima al-Zahra’s (peace be upon her) position among the People of the Cloak and her mention in the Verse of Purification, as a means of learning from her life and following her teachings.
The assembly called on scholars, mosque imams, preachers and religious speakers, particularly in Afghanistan, to commemorate her martyrdom during the first and second ten-day periods of the Fatimiyya observances. It urged them to highlight her virtues and the injustices she suffered while avoiding statements or practices that could undermine the unity of the Muslim community.
The statement also encouraged Muslim women to follow Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her) as an example of modesty, hijab, piety and responsibility. It stressed the importance of drawing on her life in family-building and raising future generations, while instilling in children the values embodied by the Ahl al-Bayt, including Imam al-Hasan, Imam al-Husayn and Lady Zaynab (peace be upon them).
