A New Condition for U.S. Citizenship: “Good Moral Character”
——————————–
The Trump administration has issued a new directive stating that the granting of U.S. citizenship will now also be based on an evaluation of an applicant’s “good moral character.”
According to a report by the Shia Waves Agency, citing Fox News, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is required to consider an individual’s positive moral characteristics in addition to the absence of a criminal record when reviewing naturalization applications. The directive states that applicants must prove that they possess good moral character not only in the past but also in the present. This new, more comprehensive approach will make the criteria for obtaining U.S. citizenship more stringent.
