A high air pollution alert has been issued for London on Tuesday as temperatures are expected to exceed 30°C, the BBC reported. Forecasts from Imperial College London indicate strong sunshine and hot weather will drive up ozone levels, with airflows from mainland Europe likely to intensify pollution.

City Hall said alerts will be displayed on bus stop boards, London Underground signs, and sent to schools and local councils. Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy Mete Coban urged residents to take precautions, avoid idling engines, and refrain from burning wood or garden waste.

High pollution poses greater risks to older adults, children, and people with heart or lung conditions. The warning system, introduced in 2016, uses the UK’s Daily Air Quality Index. The UK Health Security Agency has also issued heat health alerts for all of England, with London expecting up to 34°C and an amber-level heat warning.
