Trump begins Middle East tour seeking major investment and trade deals

Donald Trump will begin his first foreign trip of his second administration this week with a tour of the Middle East, aiming to secure investment, trade, and technology deals, media outlets reported. Stops in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE will include talks on regional conflicts such as the Israel-Gaza war, Yemen, and the Iran nuclear program.

A major focus is attracting Gulf investments into the U.S., consistent with Trump’s “America First” agenda.
Trump has already announced a $1 trillion Saudi commitment to the U.S. economy and hopes to secure more agreements.

According to news reports, Gulf leaders may also seek access to advanced U.S. technology, including semiconductors and nuclear infrastructure. Analysts say the Trump administration lacks cohesive regional policy and may be more focused on short-term economic wins than long-term diplomacy, especially as attention shifts to China and the Indo-Pacific.
