Cashes between Druze fighters and forces aligned with Syria’s new authorities have intensified near Damascus, leaving at least 30 people dead over two days. Fighting erupted in the Sahnaya and Jaramana suburbs, home to Druze and Christian communities, after a controversial audio recording circulated online.
The violence follows last month’s massacres in Syria’s Alawite regions. Syria’s interim government blamed remnants of the former regime for inciting unrest, while Druze leaders demanded accountability and an end to sectarian incitement. A curfew was imposed as officials pledged to restore calm and launch an investigation into the clashes.
