Shia Muslims worldwide mark ten days of mourning for Imam Al-Sadiq’s martyrdom anniversary

Holy shrines of Ahlulbayt across Iraq—including in Holy Najaf, Holy Karbala, Holy Kadhimiya, and Holy Samarra—have been covered in black to mark the solemn anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (peace be upon him).
Banners of mourning have been raised throughout the cities, reflecting the sorrow of the faithful. Devotees gathered in mosques, husayniyyas, and even city streets to hold commemorative ceremonies, recite elegies, and exchange condolences.
Organizers of these events describe them as part of a long-standing tradition in Iraq’s sacred cities. The aim is to honor the legacy of the Prophet Muhammad’s family and to highlight the values Imam Al-Sadiq stood for. The public displays of grief also serve to educate and spiritually engage visitors and pilgrims.

Shia communities around the world, including religious centers and shrines, have announced special programs to commemorate the occasion, reinforcing shared values and solidarity among followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them. On this occasion, mourners pray for peace and justice to prevail globally, invoking the memory of the Imam and hoping for the reappearance of the awaited Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance).
