Mass grave containing remains of children discovered in western Sinjar, Iraq

The Petrichor Human Rights Organization announced on Thursday the discovery of a new mass grave in the Jazira Complex (Siba Shekh Khidir) in the Qahtaniya subdistrict (Tal Azir), west of Sinjar, Iraq. The grave contains the remains of children.

Khayri Ali, head of the Petrichor Organization, stated, “The discovery of the grave came after a report from local residents. Following the report, a team from the organization visited the site to verify the information.”

Ali added, “The relevant authorities will be informed to take the necessary legal measures to handle the site, in accordance with international and local laws,” emphasizing the importance of following up on such cases to ensure justice is served and the rights of the victims are upheld.

According to official statistics, more than 93 mass graves have been discovered in the Sinjar district of western Nineveh province. These graves belong to victims of the genocide committed by ISIS against the Yazidis during its 2014 attack on the region.
