Experts Emphasize Timely Diagnosis, Awareness to Combat Dengue in Lahore

At a recent seminar organized by the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC), medical experts underscored the critical need for accurate diagnosis, timely treatment, and continuous follow-up care to prevent fatalities and complications in dengue patients, Dawn reported today.

The seminar, titled ‘Dengue Preparedness and Management,’ was chaired by PHC CEO Dr. Muhammad Saqib Aziz and attended by healthcare professionals from both public and private sectors.

Dr. Aziz highlighted the importance of quality treatment and proactive awareness campaigns, urging stakeholders to engage in preventive measures. He expressed concern over the rising dengue cases in Punjab, linking the epidemic’s spread to climate change.

Prof. Muhammad Imran Hasan Khan, Chairperson of the Dengue Expert Advisory Group, emphasized the necessity of building healthcare providers’ capacity. He outlined the current situation regarding dengue and the steps being taken to address it. Prof. Tanvirus Salam from Allama Iqbal Medical College discussed the importance of accurate diagnosis and dispelled common misconceptions about the disease.

The seminar aimed to enhance healthcare providers’ preparedness and foster teamwork among professionals, stressing that a multifaceted approach is essential in combating the dengue epidemic effectively.
