3,000 Flights Scheduled Between Iraq and Iran for Arbaeen Pilgrimage
The Iranian Arbaeen Pilgrimage Committee has announced an agreement with Iraqi officials to operate 3,000 round-trip flights between the two countries, equating to approximately 700 weekly flights during the Arbaeen pilgrimage season.
During a meeting of the Arbaeen Committee at the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, Deputy Minister Kamel Hadianfar emphasized the importance of ensuring optimal services for the pilgrims visiting Imam al-Hussein (peace be upon him). He noted that 80% of the flights will be directed to Najaf Airport, while 20% will land in Baghdad.
Hadianfar also projected a 10-15% increase in the number of pilgrims compared to the previous year, estimating that over 4.6 million citizens are expected to participate in this year’s Arbaeen observance. He indicated that private vehicles will account for 62% of the transportation for visitors, with public transport making up the remaining 38%.
Additionally, it was decided to issue visas for 50,000 Pakistani pilgrims crossing through the Mehran and Rimdan borders, with necessary arrangements already in place. Hadianfar further announced that foreign transportation fleets carrying pilgrims to the Arbaeen pilgrimage will receive fuel at local prices.
