Imam Reza Shrine Servants Join Arbaeen Pilgrimage Journey by Bicycle

A group of servants of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha (peace be upon him) Shrine has arrived in Iraq to participate in the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), continuing an annual initiative in which participants travel by bicycle from the Shalamcheh border crossing to the holy city of Karbala.

The delegation includes Iranian pilgrims of various ages and is led by Sayyid Mahmoud Hajian, who said the journey combines devotion to Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) with a sporting challenge. He noted that the group has maintained this initiative for the eighth consecutive year.

The cyclists follow a route passing through several holy cities and religious sites, including Najaf, Kadhimiyah, Samarra, and Al-Mada’in, as well as other districts along the pilgrimage route, before reaching Karbala to take part in the Arbaeen ceremonies.

The participants wear a unified uniform and are accompanied by a specialized team responsible for maintaining the bicycles, ensuring the continuation of the journey despite the long distance and challenging weather conditions.

Members of the delegation expressed their appreciation for the warm hospitality provided by Iraqi people and Hussaini processions along the pilgrimage routes, saying the annual initiative reflects the spirit of devotion to Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and strengthens bonds of cooperation among Muslim communities in serving the pilgrims of Karbala.
