Scientists discover complete skull of extinct flightless bird in Australia
Scientists have, for the first time, discovered a complete skull of the bird species Genyornis newtoni.
The intact skull, unearthed in Australia, belongs to a massive flightless bird weighing about 230 kg, nearly four times the weight of an average human, as reported by the BBC.
Previously, scientists could only estimate the appearance of this giant extinct bird based on a fragmented skull found decades ago.
However, the newly found skull, dating back approximately 45,000 to 50,000 years, will enable them to determine the exact appearance of the giant bird.
