Over 200 households deported from Pakistan, Iran in past two days
Afghanistan’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has reported a sharp increase in the number of families returning to the country from Iran and Pakistan over the past two days, Khaama Press reported.
According to official figures, more than 200 families, both voluntarily and involuntarily, have crossed the border into Afghanistan during this period.
The ministry also confirmed the forced deportation of over a thousand migrants from Pakistan just two days prior.
This influx of returnees has exacerbated the country’s dire humanitarian crisis, which has been further aggravated by a recent deadly flood that has displaced thousands more people.
Authorities and international aid organizations are struggling to cope with the escalating needs of the affected populations, as resources fall significantly short of the required assistance.
