Canada Launches Muslim Policy Institute to Study Community Priorities
———————————
A new research organization, the Muslim Policy Institute (MPI), has been launched in Canada to bring the experiences and priorities of Canadian Muslims into public policy discussions.
The institute aims to use research, surveys, and data analysis to examine issues affecting Muslim communities and provide evidence-based recommendations to policymakers. Its organizers said the goal is not to represent all Muslims, but to offer independent research reflecting the diversity of the community.
The MPI’s launch comes as Canada’s Muslim population approaches two million people. The institute plans to study key concerns, including housing, cost of living, education, economic opportunities, social cohesion, and challenges related to Islamophobia.
The organization said it will focus on developing practical research that can support public programs and policies at federal and local levels, serving as a bridge between Muslim communities and decision-makers.
