More than 35 mosques, Islamic centres to participate in Mosque Open Day in Australia

The National Tribune reported that more than 35 mosques and Islamic centers across Australia will open their doors to non-Muslim citizens as part of the annual Mosque Open Day event supported by the government.

The newspaper mentioned in a report seen by Shia Waves Agency that “the Mosque Open Day event, which will take place on February 25th, will see the participation of more than 35 mosques and Islamic centers to celebrate the diverse Islamic culture in Australia.”

It continued “these events, which have been held since 2017, are encouraged by the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Ingrid Stitt, to introduce the noble Islamic religion.”

The Australian government has provided funding of $400,000 to support the Mosque Open Day event over the next four years.

Mosques and Islamic centers in Greater Melbourne, Victoria, Dandenong, Geelong, Mildura, and other areas will be open to the public, including the Australian Islamic Council.

The newspaper emphasized that “this occasion is important to give residents the opportunity to get to know diverse and rich Islamic communities with their heritage, history, and traditions.”

The report quoted Minister Ingrid Stitt as saying: “Mosque Open Day is a unique opportunity for people to discuss and enhance their sense of the Muslim community and their understanding of the Islamic faith.”

She added, “We are proud to support interfaith events – and I thank all mosques and community groups participating for opening their doors to continue making our country a multicultural nation with pride.”

It is worth mentioning that Australia today hosts large numbers of Shia communities, mosques, Hussainiyyas, religious and cultural centers.
